“Breast and Cervical cancer incidence is very high in India.”
Cervical cancer screening is done routinely. Although there are different methods of PAP Smears, we do PAP SMEAR by LBC technology with HPV sequencing. This test is cost effective and almost 85% sensitive. For very high risk patients m-RNA (Cervisure) detection test is done. PAP smear is advised for all sexually active women on a yearly basis or as per the previous reports and individual risk.
Cervical cancer has multifactorial origin but one of the common causes of cervical cancer is HPV infection. Since protection can be obtained by vaccination, preferably at early age, young girls and their mothers are given information regarding the vaccine and vaccination is offered to them.
